Courvoisier VSOP in the Yinka Ilori edition is the house's classic cognac dressed in a bottle designed by the British-Nigerian artist, whose work runs to bold colour and pattern. The liquid inside is unchanged: a blend of eaux-de-vie from the Cognac region, double distilled in copper pot stills and matured in French oak, with the VSOP designation requiring a minimum of four years in wood. Expect stone fruit, vanilla and dried apricot on the nose, a palate of baked peach, toffee and light oak spice, and a warm, rounded finish. Drink it neat in a tulip glass, over a large cube, or shaken into a sidecar.
