Elijah Craig Cigar Heritage is an eleven-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill, a limited release aimed at the kind of long, slow pour that a heavier whiskey suits. Eleven years in new charred oak is a serious run at this end of the shelf, and the extra time shows in the depth of the wood rather than in dryness: more dried fruit, more leather, less young corn. Expect caramel, dark fruit and toasted oak on the nose, then brown sugar, baking spice, leather and a dusty char across the palate, finishing long and warm with cocoa and tobacco. Pour it neat or over one large cube.
