Ezra Brooks Cask Strength is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled without dilution, straight from the barrel at whatever strength the batch happens to land on. It comes from Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, the home Ezra Brooks moved into after decades as a sourced label, and it is the loudest bottle in a range better known for easy-drinking value. The nose leans into brown sugar, toasted pecan and a wisp of char. The palate is thick and warm — dark caramel, baking spice, orange peel — before a long, drying finish of oak and cinnamon. Add a few drops of water to open it up, or pour it over one big cube.
