Fuego & Humo Arroqueno is a mezcal made from arroqueno, one of the largest and slowest agaves a mezcalero can work with - a plant that often spends well over a decade in the ground before it is ready to cut. That long maturation concentrates sugars in the pina and gives arroqueno its reputation for depth and sweetness underneath the smoke. Expect a nose of wet earth, roasted agave and green wood smoke, a palate of dark honey, cocoa, tropical fruit and mineral char, and a long finish that dries out into pepper and ash. Sip it neat from a copita, with orange slices and sal de gusano alongside.
