Hennessy X.O is the original extra-old cognac, first assembled by Maurice Hennessy in 1870 for his own circle rather than for sale, and built from a large assembly of older eaux-de-vie. This Mid-Autumn Festival release wraps that same blend in a limited-edition presentation created with Jackson Wang, so what changes here is the packaging rather than the liquid inside it. Expect a dense nose of candied fruit and cocoa, a palate of dark chocolate, clove, black pepper and dried plum, and the long, gently smoky finish the house is known for. Bottled at 40% ABV. Pour it neat at room temperature, or over a single large cube to let the fruit open.
