Joseph Cartron Café (Coffee) Liqueur 700ml

Joseph Cartron Café is the coffee liqueur from the Burgundy house that has been producing at Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1882. It is built on roasted coffee rather than on sugar, which is what separates it from the sweeter supermarket end of the category. The nose is espresso crema and dark chocolate; the palate follows with roasted bean, a little cocoa bitterness and just enough sweetness to round the edges; the finish is dry with a lingering roast rather than a syrupy coating. That balance makes it a better mixer than most, and a better after-dinner pour too. Shake it into an espresso martini, or float it over vanilla ice cream.
