About this bottle
Joseph Cartron Sureau is an elderflower liqueur from the Burgundy house that has been making liqueurs at Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1882. Elderflower is delicate and easy to overwhelm, so this one leans light rather than syrupy. The nose is white blossom, pear and a little honey; the palate is soft and floral with a lychee note through the middle and only moderate sweetness; the finish is clean and short, leaving the flower behind rather than the sugar. It is one of the more useful bottles a home bar can own. Top it with sparkling wine, stir it into a gin and tonic, or add it to a lemon sour.
