Murray Hill Club Special Release takes Joseph Magnus's blended bourbon in its most ambitious direction: numbered batches drawn from straight bourbons aged roughly nine to eighteen years. Master blender Nancy Fraley assembles each release, and the early batches finished in Pineau des Charentes casks — a French fortified aperitif that leaves aged-Cognac and dark-grape character on the whiskey. Expect prune, dried apricot, and golden raisin up front, then orange-blossom honey, marzipan, cocoa nib, and toffee on a soft landing. Each batch is a one-time run; once it sells through, that blend is gone. This is a decanter-and-conversation bourbon — pour it neat for the drinker who thinks blends can't be serious.
