Linkumpinch Founders Club is a nine year old bourbon, a limited release under a label that keeps its production small. Nine years in new charred oak is a meaningful stretch: the barrel has had time to pull the whiskey darker and drier, trading the sweet corn of a young pour for leather, dried fruit and tannin. Dark caramel, dried cherry and toasted oak on the nose lead to a rich, oaky palate of brown sugar, leather and baking spice, and the finish runs long, dry and tannic. Drink it neat and give it time in the glass, or build a Manhattan that can stand up to sweet vermouth.
