About this bottle

Old Forester 1924 takes its name from the Prohibition year when the brand bottled Kentucky straight bourbon drawn from shuttered distilleries' barrels — mash bills it didn't design, liquid it stood behind. The fifth expression in the Whiskey Row Series honors that odd chapter with a 10-year age statement and a mash bill new to the distillery: 79% corn, 11% rye, 10% malted barley — softer grain, deeper sweetness. A decade in new charred oak reads as fudge, cocoa and marzipan on the nose, chocolate-dipped graham cracker and cinnamon on the palate, spice trailing through the finish. 1924 returns as a limited annual release. Drink it neat after dinner, where the dessert-leaning profile does its best work.

How to drink Old Forester 1924

An Old Fashioned built with this pours richer than usual, given how far the mash bill leans toward corn and malted barley — worth trying if you want to see the dessert notes carry into a cocktail. Otherwise, one rock is as far as it needs to go.
