Opus One Napa Red 2022 750ml

Opus One is the Oakville-grown Bordeaux blend that Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild founded together in 1979, and the 2022 follows the house pattern: Cabernet Sauvignon at the core, supported by Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec, aged in French oak before bottling. Expect cassis, violet and cedar on the nose, then a palate of black cherry, graphite, tobacco leaf and dark cocoa laid over tannin that is firm but polished. The finish is long, savoury and gently oaked. Give it an hour in a decanter, or cellar it for a decade, and serve it with dry-aged beef or roast lamb.
