About this bottle
Overture is the second wine of Opus One, made from the same Oakville estate fruit as the grand vin but blended across several vintages rather than declared as one. That approach is what makes it the more immediate bottle of the two: Cabernet Sauvignon still leads, with the remaining Bordeaux varieties softening the frame, and French oak fills in the seams. The nose gives black currant, cedar and dried herb; the palate is medium-full with plum, cassis, mocha and a graphite streak riding supple tannin; the finish is clean and lightly oaked. Decant it for an hour and serve with lamb, short rib or aged cheese.
