Opus One Overture is a Bordeaux-style red blend from Overture, the second wine of Napa Valley's renowned Opus One estate, a joint venture between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Made from a blend of estate fruit not selected for the flagship Opus One bottling, it offers an accessible entry point into the estate's style. Expect a nose of dark berry, cassis and cedar, a palate that's full-bodied with ripe black fruit, firm tannins and integrated oak, and a long, polished finish. Serve at cellar temperature, around 60-65°F, with grilled steak or aged cheese.
How to drink Opus One Overture
Give it 30 to 45 minutes in a decanter before pouring — the tannins are firm enough on release that a little air smooths them out. It's built for the table rather than the couch: herb-crusted lamb or a mushroom risotto will show it off better than anything eaten standing up.
