About this bottle
Rare Hare Lucky Bastard is a 30-year-old Canadian whisky, released by Playboy's Rare Hare Spirits in a run of just 2,500 bottles. After three decades in oak, the whisky spent a final 120 days in Pineau des Charentes barrels — the Charente region's fortified aperitif of grape juice and Cognac — before bottling at 89 proof. The finish shows: young coconut and ripe plantain up front, a mellow rum-like sweetness underneath, then anise, mandarin orange, and a faint serrano-chili warmth that keeps the sweetness honest. Age has sanded off every rough edge, so the 700ml pour drinks soft and long.
How to drink Rare Hare Lucky Bastard 30 Year
Pour neat in a proper glass and let it sit a few minutes — thirty years plus a Pineau des Charentes finish means there's a lot to find, from the coconut up front to the chili warmth on the back end.
