Rebel Single Barrel Cask Strength comes from one wheated bourbon barrel at Lux Row in Bardstown, bottled without cutting it back with water. Unnecessary Blind is the name the selection group gave this barrel rather than anything on the label's legal side. Wheated bourbon replaces rye with wheat as the secondary grain, which trades peppery spice for a rounder, sweeter profile, and full strength gives that sweetness some muscle. Expect caramel and baked apple on the nose, a palate of vanilla, dark cherry, cinnamon and toasted oak, and a long finish that runs warm and dry. Drink it neat in a small pour, or open it with a few drops of water.
