The original formula blends straight rye whiskey with raw honey, navel orange peel and rock candy, and the cherry version simply leans into the garnish most people expect on an old fashioned anyway. The nose is dark cherry, orange oil and rye spice; the palate is sweet but not cloying, with honey, stone fruit and peppery grain underneath; the finish is dry and warming. Pour one over a large cube, twist an orange peel over the top, and skip the stirring.
