About this bottle
Two cask types define The Macallan Double Cask 12 Year, a Speyside single malt Scotch: sherry-seasoned American oak and sherry-seasoned European oak. The American wood brings vanilla, citrus and a lighter sweetness; the European wood adds dried fruit, ginger and deeper spice, and the two are married for a natural amber color with no added coloring. Twelve years of aging leave a rounded, honeyed character that drinks warm rather than hot at 43% ABV. This is the everyday expression in the core range — approachable enough for a newcomer to sherried Scotch, detailed enough to reward a closer look. Pour it neat in a copita, or add a few drops of water to open the fruit and toffee.
