This bottle comes straight from one barrel at 118.78 proof, so there is no batching to average it out and no water to soften it. The nose is macerated cherry, brown sugar and oak; the palate is thick and hot, cherry cordial layered over the bourbon's caramel; the finish runs long and sweet-tart before drying into oak. At this strength it wants a few drops of water neat, or one large cube and a lemon peel in an old fashioned.
