About this bottle
Wu Liang Ye Crystal is a strong-aroma (nong xiang) Chinese baijiu, the flagship of one of China's most famous distilleries in Yibin, Sichuan. Its name means 'five grains,' and the liquid is fermented from exactly that — sorghum, rice, glutinous rice, wheat, and corn — in earthen pits, some of which have been in continuous use for centuries. Bottled at 104 proof, it is intensely fragrant, with ripe tropical fruit and a mellow, faintly sweet grain body that lands clean rather than harsh. Serve it at room temperature or slightly warmed in small cups, the traditional way, alongside rich food; a little goes a long way at this strength.
