Kilchoman Sanaig Cask Strength 2024 700 ml

Kilchoman is Islay's farm distillery, growing barley on site and malting part of it there, something almost no Scotch producer still does from field to bottle. Sanaig is the sherry-led expression in the core range, matured mainly in oloroso butts with a portion of ex-bourbon barrels, and this 2024 release is bottled at cask strength rather than the usual core-range strength. The nose is dried fruit, orange peel and coastal peat smoke; the palate is thick with raisin, dark chocolate and a briny, medicinal smoke; the finish is long, sweet and smoky. Add water in small amounts — at full strength it needs a little room to open.
