Margarita
The Margarita is blanco tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime and a little simple syrup, shaken and served over ice with a lime wedge. Blanco tequila keeps the agave bright and peppery, Cointreau adds orange, and fresh lime keeps it sharp. The most-ordered cocktail in America, timed for National Margarita Day.

The Margarita's origin is contested. Carlos "Danny" Herrera in Tijuana and Margarita Sames in Acapulco are among those credited in the 1930s and 1940s. Many historians see it as a tequila version of the daisy, since margarita means daisy in Spanish.

Bottle math, generally
Batching dilution
When you batch, there's no ice melting in a shaker, so you add the water yourself: 18% for spirit-forward drinks, 25% for shaken ones.
