Del Maguey Vida de Muertos is the Day of the Dead edition of Vida, the Oaxacan espadin mezcal that put Del Maguey behind more bar rails than any other bottle in the range. It is made the traditional way in the village palenque: agave roasted in an earthen pit over wood and river rock, crushed by tahona, fermented with wild yeast and twice distilled. Roasted agave and wood smoke lead the nose, the palate turns sweeter with cooked agave, citrus peel and black pepper, and the finish runs long and mineral. Sip it neat beside an orange slice, or pour it into a mezcal negroni.
