About this bottle
Ming River is a Sichuan baijiu, China's most widely consumed spirit category, distilled from fermented sorghum using a solid-state fermentation process with a starter culture called qu, a method entirely different from Western grain distillation. This is a strong-aroma (nong xiang) style baijiu, the most common style produced in Sichuan. Expect pungent, funky, tropical-fruit-like aromatics on the nose, a bold, complex, savory palate, and a long, warming finish quite unlike whisky despite the shared 'aged grain spirit' framing. Best approached as its own category rather than compared directly to whisky.
How to drink Ming River Baijiu
Serve it neat in small cups at room temperature, the traditional way, often alongside food rather than as a standalone sipper.
