Ultramundo Lamparillo Mezcal 750ml

Ultramundo Lamparillo is a mezcal made from lamparillo, one of the wild agaves that rarely leaves its home region and almost never appears on a shelf next to espadin. Wild agave takes years longer to mature than cultivated plants, and the smaller yield shows up in the glass as concentration rather than volume. The nose leans green and mineral, with wet stone, citrus peel and a thread of woodsmoke. The palate is lean and herbal, with cooked agave, green pepper and a little brine, and the finish dries out slowly on smoke and white pepper. Sip it neat at room temperature, in a copita, with orange alongside.
